R.I.P. Say goodbye to picture tube TV's

Monday, August 07, 2006

A recent article in the New York times tells of the quickly falling market of picture tube tv's.

I for one am glad they are on the way out, if you ask me it can't happen soon enough. The amount of materials needed and the electricity consumed by the picture tube tv's is quite a bit more than the new lcd tv's or plasma sets.

I am guessing that by 2010 it will be very hard to find a high end picture tube tv. All that will be left in the picture tube market is budget junk bought at walmart.

This year will be the last year for Panasonic picture-tube TV’s,” said Andrew Nelkin, a Panasonic vice president.

**Update** A good article of the battle between LCD and Plasma.
